great-great-aunt
Naștere: 1897-11-30 · Chicago, Illinois
Deces: 1985-09-17 · Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Variante ale numelui: Helena Nováková; Aunt Helen
Helen was the scholar of the family: she finished high school in Pittsburgh, trained as a teacher, and taught at a South Side grade school from 1920 to 1962. The photograph of her class of 1925 shows her standing in the middle of the back row (S23).
She never married, and she was the family's memory: it was Aunt Helen who kept the Windber photograph and the Christmas cards from Chicago, and who told Dorothy the stories that Dorothy later wrote down (S25). She died in 1985, a few months after her great-great-nephew Daniel was born.
