Dorothy Novak was born on the South Side in April 1926, the daughter of Frank and Anna. She worked as a bookkeeper until her marriage to Tom Harper in 1949 (S17), and later, when the children were grown, at the parish office.
In the year Tom died she filled a school notebook with everything she remembered from Aunt Helen and her parents: Kapušany, the boat from Hamburg, the boarding house in Windber, Rose's adoption. That notebook is the backbone of the Novak half of this archive (S25). Dorothy died in January 2016.
