Catherine 'Kate' Doyle was born in New York to Irish parents whose names we do not yet know; she and her brother Owen moved to Pittsburgh as teenagers. She married Michael Harper at St. Patrick's in June 1884, and her copperplate hand on the back of their wedding portrait is the earliest family handwriting we have (S3).
Kate outlived Michael by seven years and kept the Lawrenceville house full of boarders. She died in 1931 and shares his gravestone at Calvary (S19).
