Margaret, called Peg, was Michael and Kate's only daughter. In 1915 she married William Shea, a railway clerk, and their son Robert was born in 1919. The marriage did not last: the couple were divorced in 1925, rare enough in a Catholic family that it was hardly spoken of afterwards.
Peg moved to Chicago, worked for thirty years at a mail-order house, and died there in 1967. Kate Harper remembers her as 'the aunt who sent the best birthday cards' (S16).
